The Nisu, a sub group of the so called Yi previously called Lolo by the Hans are more than one million people in the southern part of Yunnan, belonging to tibeto burmese ethno linguistic family. The area of Azhahe south of Honghe, above the Vietnamese boarder, is home of the southern group of Nisu and other ethnic groups like the Hani or Yao.
