about

LALUO (YI) WEDDING IN YUNNAN CHINA

The LALUO are a subgroup of the so called YI ( a chinese ethnic concept including 6 different subgroups with different languages spread from southern Sichuan to large parts of Yunnan, being more than 8 millions people. The Laluo are 600 000 people, concentrated in Dali, Lincang and Baoshan counties.
Here is one track from hours of the circle walk in the courtyard of a farmhouse for a wedding in Qing Shui Gou village.
Choirs of men responding, while someone hits metallic tools on the ground, then women are slowly walking into the circle to chant.
