LALUO (YI) VOCAL CHOIR IN YUNNAN CHINA

The YI is another Chinese categorisation of certain ethnic minorities who might be related to eachothers at various levels, spread from southern Sichuan to southern Yunnan, there are 6 subgroups of the Yi: the Southern Nisu, Southeastern Sani, Eastern Nasu, and Northern Nuosu.
The other 2 groups now included in the Yi ethnic family, the Central Yi
and Western Yi, do not have a traditional writing system and are linguistically more similar to related groups further to the west and southwest, such as the Lisu and Lahu.

The Western Yi mostly call themselves LALUO; their speech is closer to Lisu than to the rest of Yi, with more than 500 000 people.
