KAZAKH DONGBRA IN XINJIANG CHINA

Ili ( Yining ) is a <Kazakh autonomous region> at the boarder with Kazakhstan, in Ili prefecture live more than a million Kazakh people, ranking second largest ethnic group after the Hans.
The essential instrument of Kazakh music is the 2 stringed plucked DONGBRA performed by a skilled 20 years old JAYMANUR AJABEK dongbra student from KUI TUN fine arts university .
We ve travelled to the pasture highlands of Karajun (above 3000 m high) where a Kazakh gathering was taking place, a mixture of traditional nomadism to bring cattle and sheep to the grasslands in summer and a staged contest of AKEN improviser/poet/singer and DONGBRA players.
