KAZAKH AKEN IN XINJIANG CHINA

The Kazakhs are descendants of several ancient Turkic tribes, 1.5 million live in Xinjiang (Chinese Turkestan), while 12 millions live in Kazakhstan.
AKEN or poet musicians, are DONGBRA ( a 2 stringed plucked instrument) players and singers, the man is KANJIALI MUTASTEN, the woman is ASHIMUNUR KURMANJIANG, they are both from CHAPCHAR, outside of ILI town. Aken are responding to eachother (AY IKESSE), combining love songs, jokes, improvisations touching all kind of themes developped in Kazakh oral culture based on nomadism in the past.
