HUA YAO YI (NISU) IN YUNNAN CHINA vol 1

The Nisu, a sub group of the so called Yi previously called Lolo by the Hans are more than one million people in the southern part of Yunnan, belonging to tibeto burmese ethno-linguistic family. The area of Sheping, north of Honghe is home of the northern group of Nisu, called flower belt YI in chinese.
Here you can listen to 3 parts of those northern NISU :

1 to 9 : PU ZAO is a 47 years old BIMO (a kind of priest-shaman who can recite/sing from ancient books written with specific YI characters) recorded in XIAO CHONG village,

1 SIMAPEI for the dead s body
2 CHUEI calling back the soul
3 SAPU for the offerings of the family to the dead s soul
4 UTEI for the buffalo sacrifice , offering to the dead
5 SIDATO dead s dinner, offering of the widow
6 LODIDZA dance of the bowls
7 YITOA wake up song
8 TSAZOZOTO to feed small children
9 TA IPEUPEU

10 to 15 : PU XIU WEN is a older woman singing with her 2 daughters, recorded in XUE GUA CHONG village.
