DONG ( GAEM ) VOCAL POLYPHONY

The DONG who call themselves KAM or GAEM are 3 millions people spread from western Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi and northern Vietnam. They belong to the Tai Kadai ethno linguistic family.The touristic development associates Dong vocal polyphonic ensembles with young beautiful girls, well this time you can listen to 10 mature women, singing on a traditional bridge covered with a roof :
LUSHAOHUA 69, LUHUAYANG 62, YANGMEILI 68, LUPILI 71, LUFANYING 45, LIJINXIANG 48, LUZUYUE 61, LISHENGJIAO 68, LUPIWEN 65 and LUPINEI 69 years old
Their traditional repertoire includes 70 songs, all composed by LUDAYONG, a famous DONG musician from the Qing dynasty.
