BAI SONGS YUNNAN CHINA

The Bais are nearly 2 millions, spread around Dali s Erhai lake and Cangshan mountain in west Yunnan. During centuries, they have been influenced by Buddhism, Taoism and various Han music styles. The Bai music can be divided in 2 categories, religious or entertaining, in most cases they use Bai language.
Cai Cun the village by the Erhai lake in Dali, is the home of lots of musicians and singers, this Bai community is very active in maintaining all kinds of ceremonies and rituals.
